How to spot fake Cotopaxi products and websites

At Cotopaxi, we believe in creating high-quality products that use business as a force for good. When fake or counterfeit Cotopaxi products are purchased and distributed, it hurts our team that works hard to create a unique Cotopaxi experience whether that's interacting with our products, chatting with our customer support team, or interacting with our brand in some other way. Counterfeit products do not carry the same Cotopaxi quality we work hard to create nor does it possess any of the ethical and sustainable facets we work into every Cotopaxi piece. Purchasing fake products does not deliver impact, meaning 1% of revenue is not going to carefully vetted partners to help alleviate poverty.

Here are some things to watch out for in a fake product or website:

  • Sometimes, sales are too good to be true. If you want to figure out if a sale is legit, hop over to one of our verified Cotopaxi sites listed below to check what promotions we're running.
  • If an order is placed directly through Cotopaxi, the order confirmation email will always come from llamas@cotopaxi.com. If you place an order on a website you believe to be Cotopaxi owned and run but the order confirmation does not come from llamas@cotopaxi.com, the website is likely a scam and you will need to work with your credit card company to submit a chargeback.
  • If you receive poor-quality products that do not look like anything we have available on our website, the products are likely counterfeit.
  • We sell a select few products on Amazon through Gear Coop in the United States and Canada only. Click here for a link to view the Cotopaxi Store on Amazon.
  • If you ordered directly through Cotopaxi, check the shipping label. If you've received mail or a package from us, they will have come from 74 S Main St, SLC, UT 84101 or 1737 S 5350 W, SLC, UT 84104
  • If you ordered directly through Cotopaxi, your products will come in a Cotopaxi labeled box with three inserts: a llama logo sticker, a Do Good, and a card written by a refugee through our card-writing employment program.
